LiftingLog: July 8, 2014

This week I've felt absolutely drained. I recently tested my maxes on the 3 core lifts. Deadlifts, squats, and bench press for those new to the lifting game. It went ok and I did make progress. I did not hit my goals though. As always I tend to shoot for the stars. You've got to dream big, right?

My current maxes at 165 pounds. 
Deadlift: 390
Squat: 345
Bench Press: 300
Total: 1035

I really need to focus on my squat form as my hips are not driving through. This causing me to use more quads and less Glutes. Over the next few weeks the focus will be almost exclusively on the core lifts as my first powerlifting meet will be at the end of the 4th week (August 2, 2014). 

My eating habits have been all over the place. I follow IIFYM (If It Fits Your Macros) which means as long as it fits, it's fair game (Please see previous blogs in regards to this concept as it's not as simple as it may seem). Some days I am craving ice cream and caffeine. Other days it's all about the traditional healthy foods like chicken and veggies (yes, I crave those things. Yes, it's weird). 

I am really looking forward to the strength increases that are on the docket. Looking to hit 1050 or more in the Smittys meet. Here we go!
